Open Question: Is it normal for boys to be so destructive, do you think a spanking was deserved?
My son is seven years old, and yesterday he dented the heck out of my mother’s car. He was over at their house, and he had one of my father’s golf club, which he was not suppose to have, and he purposely began hitting the back end of her car. It probably did a couple of hundred dollars worth of damage. He tried to hide it and he lied about, even though my father saw him do it. When my husband went to pick him up, he made our son admit the truth. He was made to apologize, and everyday after school he is going to their house to do chores to make money, then he is giving the money to them to help pay.
When my husband brought him home and they came in the door, my husband told him to go to his room and he would be up in a minute. My husband explained to me what was going on, and told me he lied about several times. Then my son got a spanking. The spanking was broken down into two spankings. He got three swats for denting in the car, and four for lying about it. After the spanking my son told me his bottom stung, and I told him it was suppose to sting, and that he knew better than to do that and he knew better than to lie. I gave him a hug and told him he had to make better decisions. Does this sound like an apropriate punishment to you?
