Resolved Question: Why does my friend brag but then deny that she’s rich?
The kids at my school are so rich! I know people who have chauffeurs and live in huge houses with 3 maids. There’s a girl who bought 7 pairs of Alexander McQueens on a whim and there’s another whose parents donated a BMW to the school as a prize for the parents’ golf tournament. WTF??!!
Anyway, my friend is not as crazy rich as these folks but she’s plenty rich too. She owns a few houses in our city and has recently bought a $2.7 m apartment downtown. And her Dad is going to get a Porsche. She wears limited edition Adidas shoes that cost a few hundred bucks and buys stuff online from all over the world. Every vacation she goes some place cool like Hong Kong, Korea and Japan and her Mom spent $10,000 on her own birthday without batting an eyelid. Not to mention, she also has an iPhone, an iPad, a Mac Air and a bunch of other gadgets. If she doesn’t want to pay in cash at the mall she just charges it to her mother’s credit card, and her mother won’t ever realise it because she has 8 of them and she doesn’t keep track.
She does work, but she also likes to “mention” these things when we’re talking and it is quite annoying. E.g. she will state matter-of-factly the branded bags she got like it’s no big deal. And when people be all, “Wow, that’s really expensive!” she’ll say, “No, it’s not?”. -.- And when other people tell her she’s rich she’ll deny it and refer to the rich(er) people in school. I understand that it’s bad form to agree that you’re rich, but at least could you please not go on about your $$$ to try to elicit some sort of response?
OK so am I overreacting here? It’s really rather annoying but maybe I shouldn’t be this way?
Yeah you’re possibly right. But the way she announces it is more of a “HEY! YOOHOO! I’M RICH!” rather than someone who’s not aware.

I bought these from a thrift store. They are white leather golf shoes with mocha brown suede details. They came with metal cleats reading “cream-x”. The brand on both the shoes and the cleats is Etonic. The bottom insert reads, “Etonic dri-tech tour made in U.S.A. Gore-tex.”
On the side, printed directly on the leather, it reads:
“genuine leather upper and linings.
9 m 166017 96
7562*MADE IN U.S.A.”
I know that 9 m is the size, but I don’t know what the rest of the letters mean. How can I find out when these were made?
