Resolved Question: How does this part one of chapter one sound so far?
I’m posting this for one of my dear friends. I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR HER WRITING!! She is known as Ambuka on here and the reason she doesn’t post it herself is because her internet has currently been shut off.
SIDE NOTE!! SADLY ITALICS DON’T WORK ON HERE! >:(
Here is part one of chapter one.
It was a cold winter night, the weather was nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year, but still something just felt wrong. Wrong with the world , wrong with this place, wrong with the time, wrong with himself. He shivered and looked to the stars with teary eyes. He promised himself he wouldn’t cry but that seemed to be an impossible task for him now. Especially now. He missed the good days, the past he could never return to. Why was he alone now? What was their reasoning? Where was the reasoning in this?
‘Why had they abandoned their son?’ This was the question he couldn’t figure out no matter how hard he tried. For 5 years this simple lone question weighed heavily on his mind.
It had been nearly a month since the incident where he almost killed a guy in a fight. The police were no help. Nobody understood. That’s why he ran. Ran far away, as far as his legs could take him and then some. He couldn’t take the way they stared at him with pitying eyes and mumbled comments pertaining to him, the parentless child. The others, the people who didn’t stare or gossip about him would simply ignore his existence and move on with their lives.
It was only through observing these people that he finally realized he needed to escape, to get away from it all, to move on with his life. So he did.
It had been a tough week so far and it was only Thursday.
——————————-
Monday he had gotten up at 5 o’ clock on the dot, much earlier than anybody else in that god forsaken place. He grabbed a bookbag that he had set aside the night before which contained 2 sets of clothes, tooth and hair brushes, deodorant, a thin blanket, 80 dollars and a swiss army knife.
He carried the bag over his shoulder as he stealthily made his way towards the door. He tiptoed his way to the line of coat hooks that were on the wall on either side of the door searching for his own black one, once spotted and within reach he took his coat and quietly slipped it on along with his bag. The door led to a hallway that was so dark you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.
‘Crap’ he thought to himself as he stumbled out of the room. ‘Did I forget to bring the flashlight!?’
He then reached into his coat pocket. Lady luck must have taken his side that day because there in his pocket was a small navy blue flashlight just barely larger than a golf pencil. He pointed it at his palm and turned it on only letting slivers of the light pass between his fingers for fear that he might get caught. He stopped once near a table that had a plant and a black purse, curiosity took over and he opened it ‘Suzann Wilkonson’ ID, lipstick, unopened pack of gum, and $125 bucks cash. Temptation proved too much to handle so he pocketed the money and gum and continued down the hall. He managed to make his way to the main front doors at the end of the hall only stubbing his toe once on a toy truck some one had forgotten to pick up.
The main doors were thick and the feeling of cold metal reached his skin even through his jacket as he pushed it open.
Outside the temperature was only 36 degrees not including wind chill, and boy was there wind! He shivered and mumbled something about cursing mother nature while he finished zipping and buttoning his coat all the way. He waited a few seconds for his body to adjust before finally heading down the stairs that led to the sidewalk. Not a single person was out on the block and he was probably correct to assume that only a handful of people in this whole city would be awake. He decided to go left from here and began jogging his way into the unknown.
I’m not sure I cut this off at the right point but anyway What do you think?
How is this so far? Would you keep reading? Opinions are greatly appreciated!
I have the rest of chapter one and all of chapter two the third chapter is currently being worked on.
This is not mine it is my friend’s work. Thank you for your assistance!
