One of the most popular golf vacation destinations is the Grand Cayman Island. Grand Cayman is positioned in the Caribbean and it is the largest of the Cayman Islands. The best time to visit this island is at the end of its winter season between April and May. This is when you have the best chances for uninterrupted sunny conditions.
Take a few quick deep breaths right now. Come on. Just do it, for crying out loud.
If you are planning a golf vacation to Grand Cayman then your first step will probably be to make your lodging reservations. Grand Cayman is known for its five star resort destinations and its luxury hotels. It is a good idea to book your hotel reservations several months in advance to make sure that you get the best rooms and the best deals. Some of your lodging options include the Turtle Nest Inn on Seven Mile Beach, the Reef Resort, the Cobalt Coast Resort & Suites, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman Beach Suites on Seven Mile Beach, and the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.
3) Comfortably take a full and deep breath, having the air gently fill your lungs. Hold it for a moment and then gently blow it out through the mouth. I find pursing my lips on the exhale helps with a full exhalation.
4) When this simple routine is accomplished, you are then ready to approach your golf ball. Do this and notice how relaxed you are as you stand over your shot.
Now think back to that tension-filled moment on the golf course I asked you to remember above. Does it feel different? When I do this simple exercise, it does. Simply because tension and breathing properly are not compatible partners.
You should feel your upper torso expand and relax; your arms should hang down now a bit more freely than before. You think this might be good for your golf swing?
As an intermediate golfer your equipment purchases will most like include buying higher quality putters, irons, and woods, as well as buying golf training aids. The items that you purchase at this level need to be focused on skill development. You may also want to put together a quality wardrobe of golfing apparel. Quality golf clothes will help you feel more comfortable on the green and it will also improve your range of motion when you swing.
I strongly recommend making deep breathing a part of your routine before every golf shot you attempt. This is should be the starting point for any action you have on the golf course.
Let’s take the exercise a step further. Stand up in your golfing stance; legs spread shoulder width a part. Breathe in through your nose, evenly and fully. Breathe the air all the way in and down, fully expanding your lungs until you comfortably can’t handle anymore. Hold it there momentarily and easily. Now, exhale, gently blowing the air out through the mouth.
Do this before every golf swing you attempt:
Think of the last time you were in trouble on the golf course. Remember what it was like. This most likely is going to cause tension in your body. And, with that tension your breathing is going to be restricted.
In essence you’re playing a little trick on the unconscious mind. Whereas the body and mind was once filled with tension and the breathing was restricted, now the breathing is full and the new message to all points of your being is “no more trouble here”.
1) Position yourself behind the golf ball a comfortable distance; ten feet should suffice.
When you are an advanced level golfer your concerns will usually be focused on fine tuning your equipment and your skills. Because of this you may be interested in golf club components, new shaft materials, and advanced training tools. You should also consider upgrading your golf balls to high compression balls. Finally, because you are more likely to travel with your golf clubs, it is a good idea to upgrade your soft sided golf travel cases to hard sided travel golf bags.
2) See your target line clearly and see, in the mind, your golf shot perfectly executed.
Don’t run off. I’ll explain.
Now that you know where you will be sleeping you next need to decide where you will be playing on your vacation. There are several fantastic golf courses that you can select from. If you are going to be staying at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman then you should make plans to play at the Britannia Golf Course. If you are staying on the Three Mile Beach then you should make plans to play at the Links at Safehaven or the Sunrise Family Golf Centre. Finally, if you are interested in playing at a golf course that is located next to majestic scenery and amazing geological features then you should make plans to play at the Three Sisters Golf Course.
