Driver - Down the Line Setup
This video is by no means one of my best ever swings. However, if you read the rest of this description, it will tell you how to: 1) set up your camera & 2) analyze your swing.
Camera Setup:
When you are setting up your camera, it is imperative that you put it in the right place or else you are going to have a false reading on if you are on plane or not. The best position is to have the camera equal to the height of your hands, with your hands as the overlapping with the target. In other words, if you fired a gun from the camera to the target, it would hit your hands.
Lines
Each line here represents outliers and perfections in the swing. The basics are:
3 = Should go through your shaft and through your belt buckle or at most, your belly button. The club should come back on this line and never inside of it.
4 = The outside of your club head and running through your shoulder. This is the highest that your hands should ever go and your club head should NEVER cross this line.
P = Swing plane on the DOWNSWING. This line should go from the inside of your clubhead through approximately your elbow. This can be higher or lower so long as it does not go outside of lines 3 or 4. The key is that this line is what you come down on and start your follow through on.
S = This line represents your spine at your set up. As you take the club back, you should not cross this line. When you are coming down, you should dip approximately 4 degress to offset for the lag you will create with your driver (which essentially shortens your driver).
6 = The back of your hips should not sway backwards in your golf swing. If you are doing this, all kinds of problems will happen (including the infamous shank). Try to stay pretty close to this line on both back swing and follow through.
7 = This line should run staight down from your arm to about the tips of your shoes. This line is supposed to represent the outlier for your legs. Many people (including myself for nearly a year) have problems where their legs go out towards the ball instead of towards the target. When you do this, it will throw off your spine angle and can also throw you off plane. (I HATED THIS LINE)
Good luck and I hope this helps
