Open Question: Tough or chicken out of uniform question, re-asked.?
I liked this question when the asker posted it, though he could haved used different wording. A good question, not a great question. Because of the way he worded it, he prompted the cops here to act TOUGH on the internet. Wish the cops here would address questions for what they are and not take them as insults. I am not a cop, but I think my answer was best:
When I am on-duty, I act tough, walk tough, and talk tough for my safety.When I am off-duty, I like to relax, I want a break, and I don’t want people to know I am a cop, I just want them to act naturally around me. My off-duty politeness and sincerity is being mistaken for weakness.
If there is one thing I can’t stand are the cops ( and I know alot of them) that act tough 24/7. As a civilian, can’t stand that. They especially do it round their cop buddies. No reason for acting like a ‘tough’ on the golf course, softball field, or at any other events that bring us together.
Which one are u off duty? Tough or relaxed? and explain.
Welp, seems like we’re just not getting the answers we’re looking for here. Looks like 5 out of 6 so far are actual LEO’s.
To be a little more blunt with the question. As a Police officer,ON DUTY, You are always right, you never back down, you always stand your ground, and the action or decision to be made is yours. OFF-DUTY, is a different story. Again, on the golf course, softball field, at relatives house on Xmas, while at a car or boat dealership, in a bar, while waiting for a table at a restaurant, etc… HOW DO YOU ACT? Because I have encountered the 24/7 type at all these places and there really is no need for it. What your STATE OF MIND IS is NOT the question, your PHYSICAL AND VERBAL CONDUCT is the question.
